Yes, that cache location is a bug -- it should live within launcher/.cache as with Windows.
I'm still unsure if this is a launcher issue, or if it's an Electron bug. I'll do some research.
The launcher will auto-update, removing the need for the user to update it manually; however, I can see this being a problem in the unlikely event something breaks (from user error or otherwise), necessitating a reinstall. I very much prefer having the entire game self-contained, however.
Just updating: this is still an issue w/ launcher version 158.
@SmilingDemon asked me to check this on OSX. Here's what I see with an install of Launcher v.158
Yep bug still happens in v0.199.131a
When I typed in "brusselsprouts" or "W/waffles" instead of a path, it read "there is no java executable in the specified path.
OSX: When initial memory is set to 2048 and early generation is set to 1024, the slider will not slide lower than 4096. However, typing 3072 is allowed, and typing in any lower value sets it to 3072 when the user clicks save. This does not appear to be fixed.
Fixed for OSX as well.

We seemed to have a similar bug here on LvD. Here's a brief excerpt of the different errors displaying at this time. There were hundreds of each, but the first bug had repeated for a long time before the [FATAL] errors started.

We're still seeing very painful lag on faction turns, one instance resulted in a full lagoff, and 8 minute overall server hang today:

This is a support problem not a bug as such.
Instead of just using the default price ±x%, how about[with that setting enabled] buy and sell prices are not set individually, and instead the user sets 1 price per item, with the buy price being set price +x% and the sell price being set price -x%
