moving to launcher development, I doubt starmade was ever correctly started in this case, and thus the launcher has to check if it had a valid executable.
Checked this and it in itself is not a problem.

Bug confirmed, shields on docked stuff are not covered by ion affect on the mother ship.

It does work to use like 1000, BUT
make sure you do not revert an action before it is fully processed.
In fact anything going over a sector border and or "out of your view range" may fail if altered again before the server processed the command.
This looks/sounds a lot like http://phab.starma.de/T834.
The Problem seems to be, that the rotation of rails is inversed, when using mouse wheel or Ctrl+mouse wheel.
Shift+mouse wheel is working fine.
PLAYER_MAX_BUILD_AREA = 10 //max area a player may add/remove in adv. build mode
The setting itself is a little iffy sometimes, but it does eventually work. Go ahead and close it.

Oh .. i did thought you had that set to true to get that effect in the first place.
There is the server.cfg setting:
The entire system isnt designed to handle build areas that big.
That will simply break the game on purpose.
i do advice to set it not higher than 25.
the game cant handle the initialisation of so many chunks at once if you add a 1000 in one dimension.
if it works you are lucky, most likely you will be ending up with something corrupted.

new issue progress. i have found out what is going on. and its neither an issue with the launcher or steam. it windows 10. apparently what happened is the launcher is installing to the APP DATA directory in windows 10. not that much of a problem once you can access this hidden part of windows.but here is the thing, steam cannot access or find this area either which is why my client will not acknowledge its existence. its not here cause windows 10 hid the directory.

z is set to swap modes as well as spin left. Another key needs to be found to replace the old 'z' key set.
OK then firs it's first of all I'm not blind there is no drop down you keep mentioning.
Steam should have a right-click menu and allow "Open with beta launcher". This should use it. well guess what there isn't one.
Can confirm that it's working now on my GTX 980ti. However, bloom is required for it to work (for some weird reason). Disabling bloom also disables AA.

I agree with Croquelune this is the same behavior as t1054 just manifest within the shipyard as well.

its simply not designed for that.
even at 100 it is possible to run into problems
