i experienced something similar to this but my game didnt crash. instead the template that I loaded required completely different blocks (most of which are the defunct blocks) and it corrupted the entity that I placed it on. The entity had various graphical issues like blocks would be invisible but still tangible and interactable. reloading my game caused the entity to then glitch out even more so with entire chunks of it missing. tab+f6 didnt do anything.

Just to clarify it appears that this suggestion wants better symmetry planes. Something that I think we definitely need.

Yes this need to happen however im curious as to how this would work for measuring specific amounts. Say for instance you wanted to make a fullness meter with logic. if im reading this post right then it would potentially require a massive amount of logic just for something like a 10 level fullness meter (each level representing 10%).

in all inevitability station blocks will at some point be placeable on ships so why not i guess. However i do feel that it has to be balanced in a way that it prevents trolling. i can already envision some one going around dropping hundreds of small self sustaining interdictor ships to completely lock down an entire system.

after reading the post again i figured that the three dockers is unnecessary. however the ship part one is something that could work. think of this as a partial suggestion.

Not to go off topic but this brings up an issue that i've been thinking about for some time. what happens when we, members of the council, come up with an idea for a suggestion?

Especially for new players. We can take steps to encourage the building of shipyards with some nerfs to blueprint spawning such as having a build time that's slower than a shipyard. But ultimately I think that blueprint spawningis how we're gonna eventually be able to sell completed ships at player shops
Slow build times doesn't address the fact that you can still store a huge number of blocks without any mass. I would much rather see the ability to hire NPC shipyards to construct a ship or buying ships from NPCs for early players.
This can easily be solved by forcing blueprints to have the same mass/volume as all the items they contain.

Blueprint spawning makes shipyards unnecessary. With massive cargo stores, instant spawning and no need for a specific structure there is never any actually need to build a shipyard over simply using blueprints.

this is the station i was working on. it naturally has a jump inhibitor turned on. in order to test it i had a ship with a jump drive and kept trying to charge it. if things were working correctly then the ship wouldn't be able to charge its jump drive. however i found that when i logged out of the game and logged back in I was able to charge a jump drive floating right next to the station.
