With 8K sectors here, and 128 sector jump distance, we are no longer observing a shortened jump distance, for the past (at least) two updates.

Well, might have found a hint at what starts this flood. Does not appear consistent across entities - changes from ships to stations, depending upon when I clear client cache and relog.
Went ~12 hours, no problem, and then the crashes started again. No changes on my end, server had been sailing pretty nicely all day, with player peaks up to ~15.
Jul 13 2016
Still not able to replicate it here, after the sector change hotfix. Have your sector sizes returned to normal @John?
Please ignore/close this ticket.
I will try replicating this today - although my clients haven't crashed since the 5k sector size fix. When the crash was occurring a full 0-19 cycle of the logs spanned about 5 minutes of time though, and appeared (confirmed with a grep exclusion search) to truly be full of nothing but the received mod string in the original writeup.

Hmm, I had just run an export while visiting that sector for the first time, and seeing the lag spike. Since its been ~12 hours, with one scheduled server restart during that time, here's another export.
The two involved players have not relogged since the lagoff, but I will reach out to them if/when they do.
That's odd, and not what I'm seeing in our world. I'll grab & upload a video when our player count drops low for the day.
A possibly related element, as suggested by @SmilingDemon in slack: two players did in-fact login at seemingly the same time, at near the same sector, when the lagoff began.

Might also be related to T1510 ...as that's the same character, and multi-sector teleporting is an element of that ticket as well.
We're still seeing this too, same player as well (IGN: Wolfe, SM Account: lordWolfe): she has two stations each in their own sector, and the results of teleporting between them are console spam, admin spam, and log ballooning.

In T1631#64041, @SmilingDemon wrote:so .. the function might not be there anylonger.
and isnt it a problem if you ban a too big part ?
basically you could kill the customers of one ISP in a specific area .. or am i wrong there ?
To be fair, it was an "I think" from @AndyP, I just ran with the suggestion; trying to make it work.

Agreed
Sorry, I meant framebuffers (I'll update earlier posting)...blame it my lack of morning coffee.
Also seeing same behaviors on MacOS (Intel Iris GPU). Forcefully enabling framebuffers (TAB+F3) seems to reduce the jerkiness.

Latest version, with newly redesigned asteroid system, still causes lag:

According to logs, he was logging-in at the moment the server set a 60-second countdown. So I'm going with the assumption he didn't see any sort of warning/reboot message.
Any way to determine what the entity is @schema ?

Much thanks to Wolfe today. The two of us work invested about an hour trying to duplicate this, seems to occur when transporting between two sectors, also related to entering gravity.
These seem closely related, so I'm piggybacking this report. Hope that's alright.
Current:
Faction looses system due to negative points, server says "ADMIN" revoked ownership.
We've had one prior case where a NullPointer in the character file prevented logins. In this case Wolfe had no idea there was a problem - they'd login and work for hours, not aware of any issues. Took us a couple days to catch up with them, and coordinate the file reset.

Thinking about this more...another way of looking at this, is that logs are spammed with all kinds of junk or otherwise uninteresting information at times. For instance T1484 is a perfect illustration of completely useless log spam, an issue that's happening this very moment.
Any sort of log parsing gets more complicated, if we can't depend upon the tags; wouldn't it be more accurate for [SREVER] to instead match other similar entries and say [SERVER] instead?

Decided to fiddle around with this on v2.0.5 launcher starting 0.198.133:
- Standard keystroke (Command+V) which works in all other apps to paste, still does not work.
Ahh, I see what you were asking. We normally auto-restart every 24hrs, which hasn’t been a problem until now. We might shift to 12hr restarts until this issue is addressed.

Notice the version reported in graphicsinfo.txt (2.1) doesn't match what Apple says my hardware is capable of (4.1):

Tested with launcher v.2.0.5 build 2a7eeac on MacOS: cannot paste
Err...website launcher version is still stuck at 2.0.0
This error occurs only during relog. Once logged-in, TAB+F3 again significantly improves rendering, without causing any apparent issues/crashes.
Using completely redesigned launcher made available in V0.198.131 ...still cannot paste password into uplink window.

At this point our players have basically given up on email, as the perception is that its too unreliable.

W.T.F... I don't think you're doing anything wrong @SmilingDemon . As I can get the annoying #general chatter to go away now by clicking "close". I could have sworn I tried testing this in the past though...but honestly didn't specifically try with the current production version until your comment.
