Still occurring on ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04, other linux versions are likely also affected.
not starting on Ubuntu 14.04 for me

That's what I did actually... Just completely deleted the starmade directory and download from scratch. Also, just for banter since I wouldn't lose anything, I just redownloaded starmade and the first thing I encounter is a JVM crash, which happened even before I got to the options main menu... Which means no game log file from that... And makes no sense either seeing as I am usually able to get to the menu with no trouble...
A friend of mine who is working on turrets told me this bug does not affect AI turrets. I think AIs skip the raycasting step and just hit what the game already knows they're shooting at.
Could you try to create a clean new installation according to the guide located here:
http://help.star-made.org/support/solutions/articles/5000515046
Mind you, this has been happening for several versions... This was happening before and after a complete reinstall of starmade to fix a different problem... (I think)
I think we can close this then.
Hm, I cannot see any error in the log.

Test concluded like the previous test, fixed.

-QA Testing-
Fix confirmed.
-QA testing-
Fixed, with no reason to believe in the existence of not yet tested edge-cases.
I cannot reproduce this anymore, even with what I think are the old bad files.
Cannot reproduce anymore on 64bit. 32bit could not be tested due to lack of a build.
Testing 32bit once a build is available.
-Confirmed-
okay, great, makes sense.
does it generate a log.txt.0 for the startup attempt?
If yes, we need one of them.
-QA Testing-
Indeed, old bug, should have shown up with new GUI.
Re-performed a repair docked from blueprint. Steps to recreate, regardless of ships it seems:
If anyone experiences this when upgrading to the new launcher version, please comment with your OS flavor and architecture, launcher versions (from and to), and any relevant settings files. Thanks!
Assuming this is resolved ~
The missing win32 java dependency will be addressed with the next launcher release. If you are still having issues, please create another ticket!
I cannot duplicate this behavior in x64. Has the new launcher version resolved the issue?

I had disconnected controller.
Updated to 0.16549 and then started the game. Single mode. Switch to creative mode.
ok, i think i have fixed the issue. But I still can't type chinese/japanese in the chat box.
Ok, but I don't think it will occure again because it just happen suddenly once and in total unpurposely/unapprehended way (I didn't tried weird or suspicious things when it happened). I think, you can close it right now, I keep all bug I open or follow on a .txt file.
I'll try that and I'll keep you tune. It may also bound to another bug I didn't report yet cause of time and lack of infos on the full process but might also link to controller too.
i think i found the issue, but i don't know how to fix it
ill give it a shot

Here is a later game crash...
try if disconnecting the controller makes a difference (before starting the game)
The JVM ones, seem driver related too, can you provide a recent one? (to make sure its not a different one with same text)
You can to some extend, however I played around with a design like this:
I just fixed my hardware crashes, and I still get the JVM crash...
Yeah, they happen while loading, however at so many different places, that I cant really see a relation to the game, or at least get an idea what to try.
Well the looping fall through in T767 is a client-server thing, the client lets it fall, and the server states like: no its on position XYZ and did not fall
and in that position the client initiates the falling again.
[2016-01-10 19:21:41] java.lang.RuntimeException: Disposing from unatural cause!
i agree its fixed
Will keep this open for a bit, if you get it again, try to recap the order of actions, if it does not show up again in the next 1-2 weeks we will close this.
Thats fine @Croquelune, better have a duplicate exploit report until it is fixed, than not a single one for months and the exploit/problem gets common knowledge and many abuse it.
No problem. =)
So, until there is a bug or workaround, we assume this is fixed.
Looks fixed.

not fixed as intended as far as i can see

the font doesnt affect the main menu window (its only for ingame). If that is in english, the game has loaded the english language file for some reason. Can you post the logs
but this is only osx at the moment, i can't test windows until monday when i go to work.
Or i can ask my players to test in windows tomorrow
