Yes, it is like piercing, they ignore the first block and hit the second, sort of tunneling through them.

It was always this way, as we cannot really handle by weapon orientation, as this wozld cause aiming issues for humans.

Are you sure the "salvage computer" has the right orientation?
Okay, found something interesting.
Had this once a long time ago, when a core was never entered or moved.
(The mode when you enter it, and never moved it, an easily start building the ship the wrong way when not watching the "arrow" in the top middle of the screen.)

Inner ship remotes do undock the whole ship from the shipyard on use?
Or is this about manual operation on a raildocker? (hitting R when looking at it)
First screenshot looks odd, where is the lightning mode enabled?
This is a cross influence of two function assigned to the same key.
