Change confirmed.
Clicking the button does indeed open the browser on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
However, on that page the user can download:
- the JDK
- the server JRE
- the standard JRE
- the netbeans IDE
To fix the problem at hand only the 1st option will work.
As such, to prevent user-confusion, I recommend opening the default browser on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
If this is not possible for any reason, please state so.
If the change isn't included in the next build, something still needs to be fixed, even if it is not the game but the build-tool's config.
No change within message between last test and this test confirmed. (tested on linux. in some of my own java applications I have confirmed that the standard way of opening the default browser java.awt.Desktop.browse(java.net.URI) works].

The docked station, docked asteroid and docked planet exploits are all fixed by the fix for crusade's method, as the fix does not care how the files came to be, it only prevents the type of docked entities from being read from the files. If this can somehow be bypassed[except by disabling the fix in the server.cfg] it means that the fix for crusade's method is broken.

Change confirmed.
To create the message on purpose create a file named "hs_err_pid.log" in the installation folder.
However, I recommend making the link either clickable or adding a button opening the default browser at that location.
Also, as installing the JDK fixes the problem in the vast majority of all cases, I recommend putting that part of the dialog at the top.

sidenote, 32 bit java cannot handle more than 1GB of RAM, even though 32bit OS can handle up to 4GB of RAM

The bad settings file is in "~/StarMade/Launcher/Local Storage", as erasing that folder fixes the problem.
Problem was traced to some bad settings file.
I'd like to know where the launcher's settings are kept, so I don't have to erase my entire personal folder to fix a bad settings file of the launcher.

I know this is not the JVM-crash detected dialog, but it does contain the same text as the old JVM-crash dialog.
it needs to at least be changed too.

Another interesting thing would be to integrate modding into the launcher by being able to add mod-zipfiles, which's contents override the respective file in the installation folder. In case of the starmade.jar or other zipfiles have not the entire file overridden, but the zip/jar from the mod be merged into the zip/jar from the installation. In case of conflicts between mods, the user should be prompted to choose which of the overrides should be applied.
Confirmed: the endpoint of the line always moves by a fixed amount of pixels alongside the side of the square, stopping in the edges for 2 iterations to change sides.
Tested using the cooldown of a 1-block scanner.
