Starmade | Ship HUD non functional after being forced out of reboot
Confirmed task for development, NormalPublic

Description

As an astronaut, when rebooting an overheating ship and being forced out of reboot due to taking damage, when entering another ship, that ship's HUD does not work.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start the reboot of an overheating ship
  2. During the reboot, the ship must take damage so you are forced out of the reboot
  3. Enter another ship
  4. Everything stays at 0 in the HUD (shields, energy, etc...)
  5. In build mode, no ship information is shown - the summary is empty

(See attached screenshots)

Note: The ship continues to function though, guns, shields, jump drive etc. still work despite the erroneous HUD information.

Background: In my case there was a pirate ship I wanted to loot, but was shot at during reboot by a turret from a nearby pirate station. When I went back to my own ship, the HUD stayed empty. I had to restart the game to get back the usual HUD. I then tried to reproduce the bug, and managed to get it each time I repeated the process.

@AeonOfTime
can you still reproduce it? or was it possibly fixed with a later build?

I've tested this further and it appears that it is the being kicked out of the ship due to overheat/system drop below 50% that is bugging the HUD and buildmode info window. In the test i did it seems that station buildmode is unaffected but ships, asteroids, and planets are. the target info window in the upper left still works.

procedure
1 build simple ship (in my case core, overdrive computer and module, 2 reactors and 1 thruster)
2 destroy one of the system blocks (i destroyed 1 reactor block)
3 enter build mode and add blocks until it drops system hp enough to kick you out (i added reactor blocks)

you should now be outside your ship and any ship, asteroid, or planet you enter buildmode on will have a blank info screen. initiating reboot on the overheating ship is not necessary to cause the bug. The HUD is non functional except it still registers ship speed.

Partial fix

I'm no longer able to reliably reproduce the effect through the method described in the task description.

I managed to reproduce this bug while testing out http://phab.starma.de/T678. Getting kicked from the core, due to collision damage, yields the same symptoms described in this task.

On single player, This bug happened to me, however the LIGHTING MODE of Advanced Build Mode ALSO became unneffectual

Several Isanths were hovering around and overheated a transport core I was using. Hopping into another one gave me this very bug.
