Any collision damage you do is not saved. After rebooting my SP everything was back to normal, I assume the same happens for just unloading that sector.

Both block damage and block annihilation, resulting from collision damage, are recovered upon restarting the game.
Getting kicked out of a core due to block collision damage seems to be the easiest way to reproduce the bug described in http://phab.starma.de/T456

Wild asteroids will take collision damage and more often than not recover it upon reload.
Changing the asteroid from its wild state to a managed asteroid, by placing a block on it, seems to enable the damage to the asteroid to be saved reliably.
Noticed planets and unfactioned, unhomebased player stations are immune to ship collisions entities docked to them are not.
