Starmade | NPC Stations turn into red platforms.

Description

This occurred on our Survival Saturday Series server and I have access to the host/owner if more information is needed or we need to pull logs. ->

First occurrence, Trade Station. The original trade guild on our server was accidentally deleted on the first Saturday of the series, it was remade but no longer declares hostilities or sends fleets. There are no shops except the starting shop at spawn, so restocking is not an issue. I was attempting to cut into a Trade Station with a torch, but the station was invulnerable in a sector with no peace or protection flags (maybe this is normal?). I began cutting into one of its turrets with the torch, obviously not protected, the turret did not like this and mysteriously managed to kill me once I was inside of it. Upon return to the sector, the station had become a red platform, but all of the turrets remained (now undocked) and still factioned.

Second occurrence, Pirate Station(s). Our faction deployed a station blueprint with Pirate Stations in 3 adjacent sectors in order to draw in constant waves of the enemy for farming resources. It was a great success until we warped back to our original sector to bring back supplies in a jump ship (it was deemed the warp gate was not a good idea to use with a lot of supplies given that it dumps you a ways out and there was so much enemy fire). Upon return to the sector, all three pirate stations had become red platforms which were still factioned to [Pirates], but no longer hostile. All of the associated turrets were ejected and now neutral with no faction affiliation.

Apologies if this issue is known and I missed it or if this is something as simple as the server not allowing old docks and I missed it.

Let me know if you need more information, I also have access to this server during the week (different world and slightly different config), believe I may be able to reproduce this and that it is potentially related to sector unload/load.

Splitting this up a bit

  • that you died to a turret that may not have been able to kill you while you have been inside ... yeah .. shots can glitch through walls ... as can missile damage sometimes ... so that isnt a new bug and reported i think
  • trade guild being deleted and after the reinstatement of them there bases are invulnerable except their turrets.

    originally it was planned that the shops get replaced by the stations ... and that those have to be invulnerable and a no attack zone ... but that wasnt done. so this is a bug .. kind off ;) ... will check for that separate.
  • stations turning into red plates ... this is a problem i have not seen before (i completely missed that on stream and while playing yesterday )

it sounds like a file corruption on save operation to me. is it possible to get a sector export of one of the pirate sectors with the red plate in it ?
the stations havnt been damaged and killed by your station before that happened ? they couldnt have been killed by accident and then that effect took place ?

It is possible our station could have killed one of them, but all three is extremely unlikely. Before we left the sector I did see one station had taken 0.1% damage to health, 0.2% damage to armor and that its shields were recharging. Even though this shows our station did manage to break its defenses, I still think it unlikely that it was killed in our absence from the sector. I can bug Avo when I see him online about sector exports.

OK checked the second point ... no problem there! (works as intended at this time)

  • Trade guild stations are invulnerable except there turrets
  • removal and reinstatement of the trade guild has nothing to do with that
  • there shops are afaik not being restocked by trade convoys (could be wrong there, no one really did know )

I wait for the sector exports then.

From what I've seen/heard, the Trade Shops aren't restocked. And the spawn sector shop does not receive convoys. Is it because there aren't any other "stick" shops?

T1004 has been fixed. Not sure if this one is happening. A station turning into a red platform would only be possible if there is no data to load. Need logs if this should happen still
