Starmade | Flashlight not visible for other players and does not override shadows
Confirmed task for development, TrivialPublic

Description

  • Flashlights will brighten shadows, but not remove them:
  • Your own flashlight is not visible for other players.

How to reproduce:

multiple flashlights have been added.

adding light to a shadow will brighten it. I'm not sure it's any different in real life when used in combination with a second brighter light source

The multiple flashlights only work at a certain distance, the same distance where all textures use the 256 res pack (if you have that enabled of course) and where lighten mode kicks in.

A little bit closer:

Also I'm fairly certain a shadow is completely gone when you have a secondary (bright) light source.

I've had everything go flat while using the flashlight. Shadow effects go wonky if I turn the flashlight off but reappear when I turn it back on. Reproducing it on an intel gpu crashed java. Told the laptop to force nvidia use but it still happens just without the crash.
