You can hit your own energy streams, turrets can do it too and it will apply the debuff to your own ship.

You don't do any damage to it anymore which is great and covers the most annoying part.
You can still "focus fire" at it though (cursor appears green) when it's in front of your camera. Your shots will not go where you would want them to go as they go towards the stream instead.
Not sure if this is easy to fix as it should still focus fire for any other stream except the ones on your own ship.
