Starmade | Steam Update Downgraded me instead up upgrading
Open, HighPublic

Description

Pretty simple issue here. I had v.199.217 installed. Steam ran the update automatically, then I had v.199.214, which was a downgrade. It should have upgraded to the latest version, 0.199.234. I have not had this happen before.

Steps to reproduce

Not sure. You'd have to have already had the steam version installed and perhaps done a downgrade, upgrade using the game client. I'm unsure if steam performed the last update (before this one) or if I did it through the starmade app. The bug may not be reproducible if it requires steam to be what did the update prior to this.

Could be user error (somehow..), it's a really strange issue and this is the 1st time I hear about it. I tried checking it myself but it updated just fine for me and I can only check it once per release.

I'll leave it open for now and poke around a bit, see if other people had it too. Might not even be fixable if Steam messed up instead of us.

As a side note, when you updated from 214 to 234 with the new launcher, did it download a decent amount of files? It could have been that it was correctly updated but the launcher still thought it was your downgraded version. If that was the case, it should barely have downloaded a file, maybe 1, when you upgraded to 234.

It seemed like it had actually been downgraded and took the usual amount of time to update, if I am remembering correctly. It is very odd. I never had this sort of thing happen before and it's been behaving normally since.

At the time, I was playing on our server, then I had to relog. Steam forced the install to go through.. which was annoying.. And when the game started it was downgraded. I am 100% certain that I did not downgrade the install through the launcher.

The only clue I have here is that sometimes my steam updates starmade, and other times I update it through the launcher. And sometimes I will downgrade if I don't want the update that steam forced upon me yet. Perhaps this caused some kind of strange mismatch. Though it is very odd that steam would somehow downgrade the install. I wouldn't even think that would be possible, right?
