The new launcher handle the installation path swaping worse than the starter.exe. When I go in Build Type Options menu and Installation Directory, each time I click browse in order to swap installation that fool assume each time it's on C:/Library/Documents.
I have my installation on D:/ in very far far in shadowed paths. The starter.exe memorized the last installation used while browsing, which was really really handy for me but sadly that one no. As Steam player I'm force to browse litteraly 10 folders (9 exactly) before reach one of the differents SM installation. It's quite annoying since they are all grouped there.

The new launcher also remembers the last one used, works fine for me for both a random standalone launcher or the steam one. It remembers my E:/.../.../.../Starmade path and any change I do remembers just fine too.
What launcher version are you using? perhaps you're using an old one that did not have this feature.
Not entirely sure if 2.0.4 is the latest, but that one works fine with it.
It's the 2.0.0 (according the "property", "details"). But keep in mind that's maybe related to T1327 which killed my file starter.exe ; since I don't have the old launcher anymore. Don't know if it's could be bound.
EDIT : well my explanation was quite foggy and ambiguous. It's save the last path of the game use in order to launch it (so it's ok if I want to play the same server) BUT when I open it to browse the path and get the aside one (i.e. switch from the actual 1.9624 Shatterd Skies to my own 1.97.2 test server) it's reset the path and make it automatically search in the C:/ documents.
Launcher v2.1.1 installed (build 3256b71)
Confirm browsing position saved, it's fixed. I can easely switch installation with the One Up Level button now. Sorry for the late guys.
Croquelune checked it out once more and it doesn't happen anymore, must have been fixed along the way.
