Starmade | Transporter unreliable in multiplayer/synch bugs with transporter
Closed, FinishedPublic

Description

In multiplayer, transporters will often not detect a player walking onto them. Additionally, the transporter computer and visual effect continue to indicate that the transporter is active for a very long time, but it does not seem to be functional during this period. (However, the difficulties with getting a transporter to transport you in multiplayer in the first place makes this hard to test.)

Pressing Tab-F6 will reset the transporter when it gets stuck, so it is presumably a client/server synch problem.

Should be easy to compare SP behaviour with MP behaviour.

-Confirmed-
The description seems to be spot on. I've only been able to get transported by entering the transporter field as fast as possible (standing in it already didn't work for me). A few seconds too long and you can try for minutes, nothing will happen. So yeah, it seems to work for a small time, then it gets stuck at that state for maybe 5 minutes.

Update as of latest version (0.19452 (Dev)): Transporters seem a lot more reliable now, but the computer synch bug still exists; a transporter seems to have a 1-2 minute cooldown rather than a second or so as it is in singleplayer.

I can confirm the fix; all seems to work as expected now. (Thing is, I'm not a tester so I can't close it.)

-QA Testing-

Yeah, works fine. Sometimes it doesn't transport you the first time but it seems to be related to something else and not a client <-> server issue. I'll make a new one if I ever find what is causing it.
