Description

All named storage chests should be accessible from whatever entity you're in (if they are all docked).

Put a chest on your mothership, name it "chest mothership"
Put a chest on something you dock to that mothership, name it "chest dock"
Open up the cargo menu in both entities, you'll notice you can only access the chests that are on that entity.
