Zooming out or far away objects at certain angles reflections seem to spread out into a "rainbow".

Both the moire effect and the colour distortion happen from a distance. Colour distortion only from very flat angles though.
AA isn't required to see it happening but it does seem to amplify the effect.

More than one user on chat seemed to have this problem. here is a link to an image showing the problem Link to Picture. The picture was taken directly from starmade and was not reformatted in any way, as it looks like that in game
That isnt a proper screenshot made from inside Starmade.
i cant see anything usefull on it, sorry its only 371px × 204px and 17Kb in size.
and it is taken with a broken screenshot function which should have been fixed some time ago
(the white background)
are you able to reproduce the problem and take a screenshot of it?
you can drag and drop the screen shot right into this comments
The reason it is small is because it only happens at a distance, i can take some more if you like
also, the screenshots are giving white backgrounds now, since the update, when before i could take proper ones. i have tried tweaking settings but cant seem to find a fix. turning on bloom seems to generate the black background as usually
damn .. ok than T534 is back again it seems
yes ... please take anew .. full size screen with GUI navmarker and distance to target
and one from when the problem vanishes
i guess the effect you do descrbe is the red on the top of the further away ship?
please turn bloom of and toggleTab + F3 to see how that does effect that view
The effect is multicoloured depending on the angle, it can go from green to red depending on the angle. which is why i said it seems like a rainbow split effect
i think i do understand the problem now and will try to reproduce or isolate it. may take some time though.
if i do then need more information i will ask back again.
I have figured out a solution to it via chat, turns out if i turn anti aliasing completely off the problem goes away
ok ... good to know ;)
i have AA off usually so that might be why i havnt seen it yet ... will check.
but if AA is managed by the GPU and its drivers it might be that there isnt a solutuin to this then
-Feedback-
Ok .. not as easy as i thought ^^
this is with AA x4 ... i can easily reproduce a Moire effect on a stepped surface. but i cant make it go rainbow fun ^^
please add your settings.cfg. maybe its a setting combination i havnt tried that causes this. if that isnt working then i may have to give this to someone with a NV GPU to try.
i cant reproduce the rainbow effect
might be monitor<-> Gpu related or only showing up on Nvidia AA .. no idea
putting back to be tested by a NV user maybe
I use a GTX 960, and I get a similar effect.
Here is my settings config:
If you want my server config as well, just ask.
