While typing in a bar, like storage search, it's impossible to do screenshots.
I didn't test it but I'm almost sure that it's impossible to do .gif too and also that bug applies on other SM writing process (i.e. display module, faction description, chat), but need be proved for that part.

Not exactly a bug, if you rebind the key to an alphanumeric like the key "U", then you don't want to take a screenshot but type the letter instead. In this case it's bound to the F keys and while those normally don't have any effect on input fields, rebinding them would cause issues if this behavior was changed.
If you want to start a gif, or take a screenshot, unfocus the text field you're typing in (left click anywhere but inside the textfield).
Yep it's how I by-passed that one, but on my case I bind the key with F4 (gif) F5 (GUI screen) F6 (no GUI screen). Don't know if it's possible to unlock that keys cause I can understand restrict the alphanumerical ones but the others, meh.
Still fact I was surprise 3 times to not have my screens got and I have to admit it took a bit while to make the relation between typing and no screenshot. At least pop-up a little logs warning message to warn the player that this action is impossible while typing, might worth.
