It's possible that it can take a while to get passed 50%, it has to load a big file then.
You may have experienced some game related issue too, please provide your log file when you're stuck at 50%.
They're located in your starmade/logs folder, the one you want to share should be called log.txt.0 (sort on date, take the latest one) after you've exited your game.
