Starmade | Mouse loses focus after switching to another application
Closed, FinishedPublic

Description

Playing on a Mac in windowed mode, after switching to another application, like my web browser, then back to Starmade, I am no longer able to click on anything in the UI. Also, I am no longer able to turn my ship using the mouse. I can move the mouse curser, and I can see the Starmade curser follow my mouse movements, but the ship does not turn.

As a partial workaround, opening then closing the inventory screen fixes the mouse click issue. I am now able to click on items in the ui. This does not fix the ship turning issue, however. It seems this can only be fixed by restarting the game.

Do you play in windowed mode, or fullscreen?

Is the mouse "ignoring" like when using F2?
(Without the text-warning about being detached)

Andy,

I play in windowed mode.

What happens is not quite the same as using F2. It's as though the other application refuses to give up ownership of the mouse. If I go to another app, then return to Starmade, clicking on the Starmade window actually returns the previous application to the foreground

This only happens in flight mode. If I enter the inventory window, Starmade regains focus.

hm, does this always happen or only with some applications?

(I understood the problem, but cant seem to find a way to reproduce it, nor a cause for it)

It happens with all applications. A couple more details: I am tab-switching between applications. I Command-Tab over to my web browser then Command-Tab back to Starmade. The issue doesn't occur when I just click back on the Starmade window.

Also, you have to click somewhere in the other application. Just switching to the other app then back to Starmade won't cause the issue.

One more thing. When the issue does occur it can occasionally crash Starmade. I've found that when I switch back to Starmade and double-click, Starmade will sometimes briefly act as though it is trying to enter fullscreen mode, then the application will crash.

Didnt find a way to reproduce this after testing a few times.

Does it still happen?
