So, I can't get pirates to drop any loot unless I overheat them with a player triggered weapon or a weapon that is not in AI control. A logic based timer weapon ( heat seeking missiles) will let them drop loot, but an AI controlled cannon/cannon turret will not drop.
How to reproduce: Pirate waves -> letting turrets kill them leaves no loot (while ship weapons still will produce a loot cloud at the killing blow)
