Starmade | tooltip doesn't always display or shows wrong data
Closed, FinishedPublic

Description

I'm finding it hard to find a connection for the blocks where it doesn't show, and where it does show. It does not depend on block type but more on the location in the inventory.

Some blocks don't show a tooltip when you hover over them. There are also blocks that show it, but it's the wrong block.

The blocks going through green lines showed them and were also correct. This is just an example but it seems to always apply for those types of blocks after it breaks, no matter the inventory size. It starts after the "cargo space" block (see picture).

Things I found (creative mode without search filter), hover your mouse over the grey hull to check:

  • If the tooltip shows for that block, try scrolling down the list and then up again and check again. It should break again.
  • If it doesn't show, try resizing the inventory to allow more items on each row and then back again to its original size, check again. Sometimes it gets fixed.
  • Try swapping a block that shows a tooltip that works, with one that doesn't show a tooltip. Both of them will now display their tooltip correctly.
  • Search filter can make it work partially again, usually the tooltip will show the wrong block. Just search for something, check a random block's tooltip, remove the filter and now everything else should display it. However this is really random and gives mixed results.

Should be fixed in 0.19505 and that does seem to be the case. I'll keep an eye on it for a while to make sure.

It's better now, I haven't seen it go wrong when I'm not using a search filter so i think that's fixed.
The tooltip doesn't always show for items when you're using a search filter though, example:

Any item having more than one stack does display wrong. (one of two stacks shows absolutely wrong numbers.)

Mouseover for stacks in storages does get influenced (somtimes looks like summed up) with first found stack of same item from inventory.

Fix confirmed, can't find any issues with it anymore after using the filter many times for both the creative mode, personal inventory and normal chest inventory. Works fine without filter too.
