Starmade | transparency and opaque texture issues
Closed, FinishedPublic

Description

Here we go....:

  • Can see through beams:

  • looking through glass makes stuff invisible:
    • beams
    • missiles
    • NPC's
    • planet atmosphere (inside the atmosphere, outside is fine)
    • planet core
    • real stars not in your system
    • display of display modules
  • transparent blocks behind transparent blocks don't get rendered from certain angles (chunk related)
  • the faces of the inside of any helm (player helm) do not render. As well as any blocks behind the helm also do not render.

How to reproduce:

  1. for most listed issues, put glass in front of it or your camera
  2. the transparent behind transparent just requires you to orbit it a bit and you'll notice it right away
  3. for the helmet:
    1. put helmet on
    2. zoom camera out of a few steps
    3. press shift and turn view to look from the front side
    4. can see through everything (only background) behind the half-transparent glass front of the helmet

I've fixed the beams, but I was able to see stars fine behind glass so I'll need some more information there.

lancake changed the task status from Resolved to In Queue (Game).Aug 18 2015, 11:12 AM

The draw additional stars options shows no issues when viewing behind glass.

There are a few things remaining that I can see:

  • Beams within a planet atmosphere make the space background (and additional stars) visible (same result when behind glass

  • Real stars are not visible behind glass, their bloom effect still shows though (from the one in the system) which is good.

behind glass (no bloom):

normal view (no bloom):
notice how stars in other systems are also not visible.
