The side faces of lava blocks do nearly not damage players.
This makes no sense.
This bug has been around for years too. Has never been fixed.
(the bottom side do damage when you jump)

lava surfaces do have problems causing damage to astronauts on contact.
its working fine when in gravity and touching either by walking on them orby jumping from beneath into them.
from the sides or when not in gravity the damage is not consistently applied ... works sporadic if you really move into the block.
