Starmade | fleet on sentry or defend doesn't fight back if enemy is out of weapon range
Closed, FinishedPublic

Description

I had a fleet of ships with short range beam/cannon weapons. I set them to the sentry fleet command and spawned a pirate Isanth ship with cannon/cannon weapons about 2km away. It kept shooting at them and they never fought back, never moved. I tried switching them to the defend sector fleet command for their current sector. They still did nothing. I destroyed the pirate ships and spawned it within 1km of them, and they started fighting.

It would seem that fleet ships ignore everything outside their weapons range. Even if it is Killing them.

It would seem that fleet ships ignore everything outside their weapons range. Even if it is Killing them.

I assume those ships had a range of less than 2KM then? Is it fine if an enemy ends up within their weapon range or isn't that working either?

If an enemy is within weapons range, it works fine.

If an enemy never enters weapons range, they never react, they just stand there until they die.

Cannon/Cannon Pirate ship (long range) vs My fleet of Beam/Cannon (short range) ships.

Kingofanime added a comment.EditedMar 6 2016, 7:39 PM

One time I was testing the fleet sentry command... my fleet ship didn't respond until it got the beam computer shot off. Which switched the ship from a short range weapon (Beam/Cannon) to a longer range weapon (Cannon). It then began fighting back, but none of the other fleet members helped.

It's also worth noting, that when you're using the defend sector command, if your fleet ships have short range weapons that are less than the 2km sector size... I think it's possible to have enemies in your defended sector being ignored by your fleet.

Thanks for the feedback, will check that out as soon as I can use the test server again.

-Confirmed-

Forgot to move this one around, but the issue was tested and it was fixed. They should engage anything in load range in 0.19624

Wow, you're right, this does seem be working.

Now I feel like doing some more AI combat testing, while I observe in my cloak ship.

The Sentry command is working great now.

-QA Testing-

Aggros them as soon as they enter load range. They also return to their defend sector if they go too far.
