It will yield "Cannot be placed! This is not a building element!" and refuse to set symmetry axis.

Steps to reproduce

Select a laser or a torch or whatever weapon you like. Anything that you can't place.
Go into advanced mode
Press SET on any symmetry mode needed
Try to click at any block without switching selected item
